Mr. Smith posses over 30-year record of success beginning as an Audit Manager of KPMG Peat Marwick in Dallas, Texas. Later on he served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of the Texas-based, National Health Insurance Company. During his tenure with National Health, Mr. Smith was instrumental in managing the company's growth from 19 employees in 1978 to a staggering 400 employees by 2002.

Mr. Smith moved on to serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Lifeguard subsidiary since October 2007. He is a member of many professional associations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Association of Life and Health Insurers, where he also served as Director and President and has served as Chairman of a number of internal committees. Mr. Smith also serves as an active member of the Professional Advisory Board for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He graduated with Honors from Stephen F. Austin University focusing on Accounting, Economics and Computer Science. Mr. Smith became a Certified Public Accountant in Texas in 1979.
